Using your EyeToy as a webcam on your PC
Now I’ve moved to WordPress I’m reprinting my most popular page, so that comments still work (comments now disabled on the old blog).
http://support.dlink.com
Use drop down boxes to locate drivers for;
D-Link DSB-C310 (Rev B1)
Download driver from D-Link
Unzip to a folder
Go to folder, locate OV519.inf,
Right click file,
Properties>Untick ‘Read Only’
Open OV519.inf in Notepad
Edit>Replace
Replace
VID_05A9&PID_8519
with
VID_054C&PID_0154
Select ‘Replace All’
Save OV519.inf
Then, plug your Eye Toy into the USB port, wait for it to be recognised and
install the drivers’ in the normal way using the Have Disk option at the
prompt and the modified OV519.inf file.
(double check which drivers you’re installing as my Win2k attempted
to install its own driver)
During the installation, you’ll get a system box with ???? in it…this is
the 50Hz/60Hz option setting. I set it to 50Hz for now.
That’s it.
The software to view the webcam output is included in the driver pack…
AMCAP.EXE, Options>Tick Preview
You should now get a picture of whatever your EyeToy is pointed at.
UPDATE: Well, just tried it, and it works, on XP with SP1 installed…
UPDATE 2: Fuller information on this procedure can be FOUND HERE
UPDATE 3: Please note that I am NOT providing a free tech support service for getting your eyetoy working on your PC so complaining that it doesn’t work and asking for help will get you nowhere.

it doesnt come up that my computer has recognised my eyetoy. What should i do?

I followed the directions but didn’t work. Then found that there are two models and had to modify program to VID_054C&PID_0155 instead of VID_054C&PID_0154. After that the cam worked well. Thanks heaps. On the side it looks like the cam needs a USB2 port which I have just installed. Wasn’t even recognised with a USB1 port.

i am having a simailar promlem as jaime. when i plug my eyetoy camera into the USB port the computer doesn’t recognise it. Also is there an easier way to install the eyetoy camera aas a msn messenger webcam as it is proving very dificult for a 13 year old girl.

It doesn’t work!!! Where is the driver? Where do I save the files?
Just kidding
Gotta love people who ask for help when you specifically say you won’t answer them.
If you can’t be bothered editing the inf files yourself - I’ve put up an ‘illustrated’ step by step guide here: http://www.iplayplaystation.com/eyetoy-as-webcam/

Hi, I have a silver Namtay Eyetoy and I was wondering if It was possible to get this up and running on Windows Vista by any chance? I suppose it’s not possible but if it is I’ll keep an eye here now and then.

I modified this driver before was posted here…
to answer a few of the latest questions,
1. if it doesnt recognise the eyetoy, go through controll panel, scanners and camera’s, add a new camera, follow the instructions as normal.
2. Yes, this driver will work with windows vista 32Bit.
As the blogspace owner specifies, he does NOT answer questions or offer technical support, so i hope this answers a few of the FAQ’s.
